Copyright is a bundle of rights in
artistic, creative and
literary
work ownership and use of which is
protected by the Copyright Act 1957.
In relation to films, it includes but is not limited to,
rights of reproduction,
communication to the public, adaptation and
translation of the work.
The Copyright Act, which was amended in 2012, states the meaning of copyright
with reference to Cinematograph Film as follows:
Excerpts from the Copyright Act
A. To make a copy of the film, including.
a. A photograph of any
image forming part there of‚ OR
b. Storing of it in any
medium by electronic or other means
B. To sell or give on commercial rental or offer for
sale or for such rental, any copy of the film
C. To communicate the film to the public
The Copyright Act, which was amended in 2012, states the meaning of copyright with
reference to sound recording as follows:
Excerpts from the Copyright Act
A. To make any other sound recording embodying it including
storing of it in any medium by electronic or other means.
B. To sell or give on commercial rental or offer for
sale or for such rental, any copy of the sound recording.
C. To communicate the sound recording to the public.
